Zondag vechten Lommel SK en KV Kortrijk hun eerste van twee duels uit in de barrages tussen de winnaar van de Promotion Play-offs en het nummer twee uit de Relegation Play-offs. Die barrages moeten bepalen wie het laatste vacante 1A-ticket krijgt voor het seizoen 2024-2025.

Door de enorme belangen besliste de KBVB om enkele ‘internationals’ naar het Soevereinstadion te sturen. Zo werd Lawrence Visser aangeduid als hoofdref. De 34-jarige Limburger floot dit seizoen onder meer 13 duels in 1A en was ook de ref bij de Belgische Super Cup. Daarnaast was hij ook actief in de Europa League. Pikant detail; Visser werd geboren in… Lommel om dan wel snel uit te wijken naar het Antwerpse Merksplas.

Visser floot in zijn uitgebreide carrière al 21 duels van KV Kortrijk; de Kerels wonnen 8x en trokken 9x aan het kortste eind. Lommel kwam Visser nog maar vijf keer tegen en won geen enkele keer (1x gelijk, 4x verlies). Rien Vanyzere en Michele Seeldraeyers assisteren vanaf de zijlijn terwijl (West-Vlaming) Jan Boterberg aangeduid werd als vierde scheidsrechter.

Bram Van Driessche neemt dan weer de leiding van het VAR-team op zich. Ook hij was dit seizoen al actief in Europa (kwalificaties Champions League en Conference League) en floot dit seizoen ook al 24 1A-duels. Als VAR zit de Oost-Vlaming aan twee Europese duels (kwalificaties Europa League) en 14 1A-duels.
