Patro Eisden heeft half februari toch nog een zaakje gedaan op de transfermarkt. De Limburgers pikten Stallone Limbombe transfervrij op in Cyprus.

Limbombe was een vrije speler nadat zijn contract bij Othellos Athien stopgezet was. De inmiddels 32-jarige winger keert zo na anderhalf jaar terug naar de Challenger Pro League waar hij in het seizoen 2021-2022 de kleuren van Lierse verdedigde.

De Congolese Belg brengt natuurlijk wel heel wat ervaring naar Maasmechelen. Zo zwermde hij in zijn carrière onder meer al langs Antwerp, AA Gent, OH Leuven, Nederland, Spanje, Turkije en nu recent dus ook Cyprus. Toch is het de vraag of Limbombe meteen een meerwaarde kan bieden bij de Maaslanders, want de laatste speelminuten van de oudste van de Limbombe-broertjes dateren al van november 2023.

Desalniettemin zal 15 maart al met stip aangeduid staan in de agenda van de familie Limbombe; want dan speelt Patro met Stallone tegen het SK Beveren van Anthony. Beide teams dingen momenteel nog mee voor promotie.
