Lierse heeft afscheid genomen van trainer Jo Christiaens. De sportieve resultaten van de laatste weken hebben de club tot deze beslissing gedwongen. Christiaens stond sinds de zomer aan het roer van de club.

Jo Christiaens is niet langer hoofdtrainer van Lierse Kempenzonen. De voormalige coach van KSK Heist volgde afgelopen zomer Tom Van Imschoot op, die na drie seizoenen afscheid nam als trainer op het Lisp. De tegenvallende resultaten van de voorbije weken kosten hem nu zijn job. Lierse staat na 17 speeldagen op de 12de plaats in het klassement met 18 punten, slechts 4 punten boven de degradatieplaatsen. Afgelopen weekend verloren de Pallieters met 2-4 van FCV Dender EH, de derde nederlaag op rij.

“We willen Jo Christiaens bedanken voor zijn inzet. Sinds zijn aanstelling was hij van ’s morgens vroeg tot ’s avonds laat op de club aanwezig. We willen dan ook niet alleen de trainer met de vinger wijzen voor de sportieve resultaten van de laatste weken. De spelers moeten beseffen dat het veel beter moet, iedereen moet in de spiegel kijken”, aldus directeur voetbalzaken Dirk Gyselinckx op de officiële website van de club.

Assistent-trainer Geert Emmerechts neemt tijdelijk het roer over en zal samen met de rest van de technische staf de wedstrijd tegen KMSK Deinze voorbereiden.
